An average adult has roughly two square meters of skin, but roughly seventy square meters of respiratory membrane in her lungs. We touch the world 35 times more with our lungs then our skin . This work consists of a hollow cast glass torso and a projection of digital lungs. The torso, by nature of a rubber diaphragm, a piston, and motor is breathing. The breathing in turn controls the movement of the digital lungs. By placing the torso and pump within the projection, viewers are drawn into the projected light. As the digital lungs are projected onto the viewer the contrast between the bodies exterior and interior is illuminated.
