During a period of five weeks visitors of Shepherd of the Hills were invited to help weave a bridge in the narthex. This physical collaborative representation of bridge building is a reminder that in the world Christ would have us create there are no divisions. Christ calls his followers to weave the tendons of love and empathy that connect all of our hearts into a sturdy bridge so we can embrace the “other” as well as the neighbor. The small consistent act of weaving in the case of the narthex bridge will change a permeable collection of rope into a functional passable surface just as consistently reaching out to build relationships strengthens the connections within the greater community.
